Eat these foods to ease Anxiety and Stress level

We are always surrounded by a plethora of problems – some created by us, some donned upon us while there are people who are a magnet of problems.

These are possible due to people not using common sense, got too much energy to deal with every problem, procrastinators, bad luck, boredom, not having a healthy lifestyle, toxic people around, pros at choosing the wrong path and more.

The stress and anxiety that emerges from these are enough to give one insomnia, cigarette or alcohol addiction, physical and mental problems to such an extent that people might start being bitter, cut people off of their lives with trust issues and more.

So, to calm oneself from being stressed and full of anxiety to being sane and serene, the following foods can help a lot:

  • Chocolate: Flavonols such as epicatechin and catechin can be found in dark chocolate. These are antioxidant plant chemicals that have been shown to alleviate anxiety. In severely stressed persons, chocolates lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol as well as the “fight-or-flight” hormones known as catecholamines.
  • Fish: Fish high in omega-3 fats and vitamin D, such as mackerel, herring, salmon, and sardines, have been demonstrated to help lower stress and anxiety and enhance mood.

Keeping fish helps to promote mental health by reducing worry and stress.

  • Vegetables: Kale, spinach, beets, broccoli, and other vegetables have been shown to help control anxiety and stress.
  • Fruits: Bananas (Vitamin B), Blueberry (Vitamin C), Avocados (Vitamins C, E, K, and B6) and more fruits effectively provide anxiety and stress relief.
  • Nuts and seeds: Almonds, pistachios, and walnuts are high in antioxidant vitamin E and zinc, which are both beneficial to your immune system. Plus, those nuts are high in B vitamins, which assist the body cope with stress and anxiety.

Anxiety and stress can be reduced by eating seeds like pumpkin seeds (high in potassium and zinc) and chia seeds (high in omega-3 fatty acids).

  • Fermented Foods: Yogurt is beneficial for anxiety and stress alleviation since it helps to maintain mental wellness.

Cheese, sauerkraut, kimchi, and fermented soy products are all good sources of probiotics that help as well. 

Note: The 3-3-3 rule might help you manage your stress and anxiety.

Take a look around and write down three things you see. Then, describe three of the noises you hear. Finally, move your ankle, fingers, or arm in three different directions. This mental method can help you concentrate your mind and bring you back to the present moment whenever your mind is racing.

To reduce stress and anxiety, self-care, sleep management, and exercise are all good places to start.
