Winters is the most wonderful time of the year. During the winter season in India and around the world, snow, fog, precipitation, hail, and icy winds are regular occurrences. 

Winter break is the best period of the year for students because it allows us to spend time with our families while viewing snow-capped mountains, eating delicious food, and playing in the sun. 

The winter foods such as Gajar Halwa, Sarson ka saag with Makki ki roti, Thukpa, Undhiyu, Rogan Josh, Chikki, and others are prepared, particularly in India. From December to February, various festivals are observed, including Christmas, Happy New Year, Gurupurab, Lohri, Makar Sankranti, and Pongal.

However, we must be cautious in light of recent actions, which have resulted in an alarming increase in pollution levels, which can lead to a variety of respiratory illnesses. Meanwhile, common winter illnesses such as the common cold, influenza, bronchitis, pneumonia, and acute sinusitis persist.

So, here are some things we can do to combat winter while also enjoying it:

  • Fashion is good but try to maintain a comfortable body temperature by layering warm clothing.
  • Use sanitisers or Handwash to keep your hands germ-free and clean. With filthy hands, avoid touching your lips, nose, or eyes.
  • Winter mornings are extremely dangerous, so if the air quality in your location is poor, avoid going for a jog early in the morning. Harmful particles are at their peak during this time. Instead, you may do some cardiovascular workouts indoors.
  • Exercising is good as long as you include breathing exercises to help you expand your lung capacity.
  • Eliminate dust, mould, and allergies from your home to keep it clean. Clean your linens, carpets, rugs, and sofas regularly.
  • Avoid smoking as much as possible because you are already inhaling enough smoke due to pollution. Additionally, avoid crowded places.
  • To increase clean air ventilation, utilise an air purifier or a humidifier in your home.
  • Make sure you drink plenty of water. You can take steam but not too much, and you should avoid using home remedies that could aggravate your current health problems. 
  • Consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean protein that is well-balanced. Citrus fruits, turmeric, and ginger can help to increase immunity.
  • Processed, junk, fried, greasy, and canned meals should be avoided because they include preservatives, additives, and artificial flavours. They may irritate your throat.
